Solace State is the first featured title by indie interactive arts studio Vivid Foundry. Solace State emerged first as a loose storyline, with themes of political machinations and solidarity in the face of injustice. In Dec 2013, it was a 3D experiential game that featured exploration and voice-over narration. Over time, Tanya realized that the script required more character-to-character interactions, and thus turned to the Visual Novel genre. By 2015, Solace State has a new script, with dialogue that privileges character growth in the form of tight-knit communities, emotional motivations, and interpersonal relationships. Visual Novel dialogue interactions exist alongside 3D scenes where players can explore and read texts, usually in the form of soliloquys and observations by the protagonist. The project is currently being developed in Unity 5. On Dec 5, 2015, Solace State’s first demo build will publicly demonstrate the first five scenes and their gameplay.
